College Bound: A Family’s Guide to Post-Secondary Options for Students with Disabilities

Navigating post-secondary educational opportunities for individuals with disabilities is a daunting task. Though recent changes in legislation have increased opportunities, many are unaware of the available resources and choices. This book will help parents and students find the post-secondary option that is most appropriate to reach their goals.

Patricia Arter is a Professor of Special Education and the Department Chairperson of Counseling, Leadership and Educational Studies at Winthrop University. Dr. Arter’s main areas of research are creating access for marginalized special needs populations through inclusion, behavior management, vocational training, social skills training, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). She oversees the Winthrop Think College program, a federally approved comprehensive post-secondary transition program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She lives in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Tammy Brown is a Professor of Education in the School of Education at Marywood University. She serves as director of the Students On-Campus Achieving Results (SOAR) program, a campus-based program to help individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder to secure competitive employment. She lives in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania.

Amy Paciej-Woodruff is an associate professor of Education at Marywood University. She served in student affairs for 23 years at six institutions before transitioning to faculty. Her student affairs experience includes responsibilities in housing and residence life, student conduct, and serving as Behavioral Intervention Team chair. She lives in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania.
