At the end of a long, gravel driveway on the outskirts of a small ski resort town sits a restored nineteenth-century wheat mill. Its keeper, a reclusive old man, is the subject of much scorn and suspicion with the townspeople, who believe that he was involved in the disappearance of a young man many years ago. Among the town's residents are four men who are each living alone, contemplating their past mistakes as they wait out the off-season on the mountain. Through a peculiar series of events, the men all find themselves trapped in the basement of the mill as a record-breaking snowstorm rages outside. As the snow piles up, the truth about the mill keeper and the men trapped inside is revealed.
