Gulun Kungfu: The Traditional Way of Gulun Chan Wu

Master Wu NanFang, born in Henan Province, China in 1962, is the Fifth Generation Master of Gulun Kungfu. His great-great-grandfather - and the First Generation Master - Wu GuLun, was one of the worthiest monks in the Shaolin Temple, who had embodied the Chan Wu teachings and whose kungfu was of the highest level. In about 1869, when China was facing turbulent times and the Shaolin Temple was in danger of being destroyed, Master Wu GuLun, was instructed by the Temple’s leaders to leave the Temple and stay hidden until more peaceful times occurred and he, or his sons, could return to the Temple and restore the precious knowledge and kungfu skills that he had acquired. Sadly that time never came and the Shaolin Temple was tragically destroyed in 1928. Master Wu GuLun had, however, passed on all his knowledge and the secrets of the Temple to his son, Master Wu ShanLin, who in turn passed on the knowledge to successive members of the family and finally to Master Wu NanFang who is now teaching Gulun Kungfu at his Academy in the foothills of Song Mountain, just outside of Dengfeng, Henan Province. The Gulun Kungfu heritage has remained pure and unchanged through these 150 years and, of all kungfu styles, most closely resembles the original, traditional Shaolin kungfu. As China is now experiencing times of relative peace and prosperity, Master Wu NanFang feels that the right time has now come when he can share his family’s special heritage with China and countries around the world.
