Lia’s life changes when the phone rings at 11 o’clock on the evening of her father’s 75th birthday party.  The caller tells her that her mother is missing.  Her mother, Eve is an Australian Secret Intelligence Service operative specialising in organised crime.  She was about to leave for Italy to investigate Mafia involvement in Australia, when she disappeared.

Lia had been an analyst with ASIS but retired early after her husband was killed on the job in Italy. Is there a link? Italy is common to both her husband and her mother. She helps ASIS to investigate.  Alarming information about people around her is gradually uncovered.  One crisis after another occurs, until some horrible truths are revealed.
