Family Secrets and Lies

Heidi Wagner is only thirteen years old when she discovers the secrets and lies that have plagued her family for three generations. She learns about her father's biological mother and aunt --- The Bauer sisters who are forced to grow up fast when their mother dies in childbirth and their father abandons them to their strict Grandfather and timid Grandmother. Looking for greener pastures, the sisters learn just how harsh life can be for women in the 1920's. Older sister Gladys learns how to survive and take charge until she makes a choice that will bring her to her knees. Younger sister Martha just wants to be loved and she will look for love anywhere and everywhere regardless of who gets hurt along the way. Will Gladys and Martha find what they are looking for as they navigate through life in the next five decades and make choices that sets them on a course that will shatter the family for generations to come? Who will have to pay for them keeping the family secrets and lies?

Annette Evans (nee Ludwig) was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. As a child, she loved to read Nancy Drew Mysteries. In her teen years, she fell in love with the romance genre. Annette counts earlier Danielle Steel novels, Judith McNaught, and Linda Lael Miller among some of her favorite romance authors. In her late 20’s, Annette moved to the eastern shore of Maryland. That is when she began writing poetry. Two of her poems have been published in an anthology book. She quickly turned to writing fiction. About this same time, she met and married a wonderful man, Jim. They, and their dog, live on the picturesque eastern shore of Virginia. She enjoys reading, writing, playing board games, and spending quiet moments with her husband on the enormous deck he built adjacent to their home.
