We have lots of stuff We now accumulate tons of stuff. Many of us live as if we grew up during the United States Depression in the 1930's where there was an inherent fear of not having enough and the country was in crisis. However, that is not the case today. Many of us are packrats, some are hoarders and then others are just too lazy to clean up our environment. There are various reasons that people hoard or hold onto to things. To clarify, the definition of hoarding as determined by the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) which states that hoarding is a persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions regardless of their actual value or usefulness. Our stuff is both physical and mental clutter. Reasons to hold onto items and members include fear of loss, memory joggers, or hopeful that an item or idea will provide value later on.
