Jean Lau Chin, Ed.D., ABPP is a psychologist and Professor at Adelphi University in New York. She has held senior management positions as academic Dean at two universities, Executive Director of a community health center, and Director of a mental health clinic. Her work on leadership, diversity, Asian American and women’s issues include: Fulbright Scholar as Distinguished Chair in Cultural Competence, author of 12 books, numerous publications, and talks. She has served in many leadership positions on national, state and local boards promoting national policy on mental health, substance abuse, access to care, cultural competence, and women’s issues. Most recently, she is Chair of the Council Leadership Team of the American Psychological Association, president of the International Council of Psychologists, and chairperson of the board of the Organization of Chinese Americans-Long Island. She was the first Asian American to be licensed as a psychologist in Massachusetts. She grew up in New York City’s Chinatown during the 1940s-1960s, and has been a major contributor to the New York City Chinatown Oral History Project.
