Rick Lee was born in North Yorkshire in 1948 and studied History in London in the late 1960s. In 1974, Rick became a drama teacher working in secondary schools, colleges, special needs departments and residential homes. He went on to study for an MEd in Education through Drama with the world renowned Dorothy Heathcote, MBE. In the early 1990s Rick spent four years with Leicestershire Local Education Authority as a Senior Advisory Teacher, which included taking many successful theatre productions to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; before returning to the north to take on the position of Head of the Expressive Arts Department at Parkview Secondary School in Barrow in Furness, which became the inspirational backdrop for his second Mick Fletcher novel, A Ripple of Lies. In 2000 Rick went on to work for Barrow Educational Action Zone and then as an educational consultant before he and his wife, Dorothy, decided to move to France. After four years of DIY forced labour he now spends most of his time writing. Rick also has a MA in Writing Studies from Lancaster University and before creating the Mick Fletcher novels, had already written many short stories alongside two published volumes of poetry. Now in France he has been involved with five writer’s groups & has established another one recently in Brantome. ’A Man in Flames’ is ahis sixth book and number seven ’Blackthorns of their own’ will be published early 2018.
