Mel C. Thompson escaped Orange County in 1989 and sought refuge in the poetry world of San Francisco in the early 1990s. His entire life has been one economic pressure cooker. Driven on to psychiatric disability in 2006 by rising rents and overwhelming job competition, he turned to writing fiction in order to find some way to communicate his dilemma in hopes of reaching anyone who might sympathize with the plight of the California underclass in the Information Age.
