Midnight brings the detectives to the scene of a homicide. Subsequent investigation finds Levi, the lead detective, standing in on the autopsy of the "Jane Doe" victim. The medical examiner, Dr. Whitaker, stirs his interest in forensic sciences, but Levi soon develops a deeper interest in the doctor’s departmental secretary. Caroline, a raven-haired young lady, soon commands his dedicated attention. Levi finds ways to make frequent visits to the University Pathology Department. The enigma of the homicide drags on while romance blooms. Charles served in the United States Air Force and Naval Communications where he developed a love of freedom and country, which continues today. He is a graduate of Cleveland Institute with an AEE degree and East Tennessee State University with a BSN in Health Sciences. He worked for 30] years in local emergency medical services. After retirement, he developed an increased interest in writing. Growing up under the culture and influence of the strong-willed people living in the mountains of East Tennessee has been paramount in his current appreciation for family values and deep sense of patriotism. He is the author of three other books: 1) THE LIGHT, a book of life relationships and values of a young man coming of age near the end of the Civil War; 2) UNSEEN HANDS, the story of his maternal grandfather and his struggles during the reconstruction era; and 3) THESE MOUNTAINS ARE MY HOME, a young man’s desire for education drives him to choose a Naval career as a result of the Great Depression economics. He soon becomes embroiled in the conflicts of World War II. Charles is currently active in many civic and volunteer agencies in the local area. He is an active member of the Gideons International. He is also a lifelong woodworking enthusiast.
