George G. Sugg George Gardner Sugg was born and raised in the small town of Grifton. His parents were George C. and Joyce Gardner Sugg. He grew up just as the town was reaching her peak. He paid attention to the people and how the place came into its own. He wanted to be a part of it and became one of the town’s prominent business men. He married Edna and they raised their daughter, Nancy, in Grifton. They moved to Belhaven more than thirty years ago. He never lost the passion for the place and people of his roots. It was his desire to pen his knowledge so the facts and fun of small town living would be remembered. Sometimes he longs to return. It is the love for his nearby grandson and his great grandson that give him pause. This book is a record that keeps it alive for himself as well as others. Diane Mitchell Thomas Diane is a writer and inspirational speaker. Her roots are also deep into Grifton where she was born and raised just outside of the city limits at Quinerly’s Crossroad. She was one of nine children and always wondered what life was like off the farm. She lives in Alaska now and often writes about life in the Last Frontier. Her main passion will always be for the community of her birth. She returns to Grifton often. She follows the road back home.
