Animals on Parade

From the days of the dinosaurs on through the present, animals have ＂come swimming, rolling, walking, stalking, running, gliding, sliding＂ through our world. Some stayed for only a short time, while others have endured for millennia; many have felt the effects of human influence (or outright interference). In this intricately illustrated gatefold book, diverse groupings of creatures parade forward as the text describes the threats to their existence--until they encounter the embrace of adoring children, the conservators of all our futures.

Jane Yolen is an award-winning author, poet, and teacher. She has written more than 365 books, including What to Do with a Box, illustrated by Chris Sheban, and the Caldecott Medal-winning Owl Moon, illustrated by John Schoenherr. The Educational Book & Media Association honored her significant contributions with its 2018 Jeremiah Ludington Award.

Anne Yvonne Gilbert has designed and illustrated children’s books, postage stamps, record sleeves, and posters, infusing her work with a fairy-tale sensibility especially befitting the subject matter of the natural world. After many years spent in Canada, she and her husband make their home in northern England.
