STEPHEN R. GAGIN received a bachelors degree in biology from The Citadel. The Military College of South Carolina in 1978. After graduation, he joined the Navy and headed north to the Washington Navy Yard for the last winter class at the Naval School Diving and Salvage. There he was taught the art of ship salvage and tap danced in the two hundred and five pound spun copper helmeted, vulcanized rubber Mk V.
