Correspondence of Major General Emory Upton 1875-1881

This work collects the letters of Emory Upton, a Union general during the Civil War who was involved in the battles of Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, and Spotsylvania and later taught at West Point. This second volume of a two-volume set covers the period from 1875 to his death in 1881. The edited and annotated letters shed light on Upton’s views on foreign policy, military strategy, and American involvement in conflicts around the world. B&w historical photos are included.
