Hanover County was created in 1721 from New Kent County and in turn the western portion of Hanover County was carved off to give way to Louisa County in 1742. This work is an alphabetical list of some 3,500 persons who paid taxes in Hanover County between 1782 and 1815. Includes the names of the taxpayers, the dates of their successive assessments, a description of their assessable property, and the names of minors and other householders for whom poll taxes were paid.
