John Muro’s recent collection, A Bountiful Silence & Other Poems, captivates the reader with its lyrical expressions and odes to nature. Muro employs a tight economy of language in every line, allowing sensory imagery to dazzle evocatively on the page, with lines like "the rupture of fragrance from / each swollen blossom that astonishes / and agitates the soul" in his poem titled "Becoming," and in "Something More Than Winter (Weighs Upon Me)" he offers a stunning visual, "leaves of Klimt gold flutter like torches / set upon the crowns of beech." Other poems are introspective and self-reflective such as "Midsummer"...and in "A Rural County in Connecticut" he allows the reader to ponder how regional location affects deeply the poet’s multi-faceted and rich lens on art, emotions, family, life, memories, music and nature. A marvelous collection!

John Muro’s poetry...is elegant, refined, and steeped in tradition, but it is also surprising and accessible. Excellent poetry is the work of a refined and sensitive artist. John is all of that and more. Read everything he writes.

Into a world of too much noise and busyness, John Muro has given us a book of moments in which stillness and attention hush the mind and open the heart, making words themselves take one step closer to a silence that offers comfort and healing.
