The creation of the landmark 1979 Book of Common Prayer was the fruit of nearly four decades of discussion within the Episcopal Church. Volume 8 completes the contents of the proposed prayer book and contains the crowning study--an introduction and explanation of the new prayer book as a whole. The Daily Offices materials are more of a completion than a revision and introduces a new Daily Office Lectionary; the other study completes the rites related to church structures.
