Sometimes, what we can’t see... transforms us. For nine-year-old Wendy Slattery, the world was a big place that had no interest in fulfilling her dreams. Growing up on a farm in the 1960’s meant absorbing the rhetoric that women don’t become doctors. Instead, Wendy abandoned her medical ambitions and turned her dreaming to imaginary stories. That big imagination took a back seat through the rebellious days of the 1970’s, where she fell into a cutting-edge career in the newly burgeoning computer field. Soon, the golden days dissolved into discontent, divorce, and a lack of direction only God could turn around. Increasingly anchored by prayer, Wendy rediscovered her early calling - and when she answered, life bloomed in unexpected ways. With love came joy, with purpose came fulfillment...and with living, came dying. After a shock diagnosis of terminal cancer, Dr. Wendolyn Slattery took early retirement from her work as an Infectious Disease physician - and started to write. Determined to leave a legacy for her grandchildren, what transpired was a journey that grounded her through immense adversity checkered with surprise endings. During her medical career, Dr. Slattery was honored by Mercy Hospital’s Travis/Carr award for leadership and excellence and was recognized multiple times as a ＂Top Doc＂ in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
