I felt the hardwood floor as the guests stared, it was a dizzy situation. A large puddle of blood was behind my head. It was sticky and damp in the parts of my hair, the braids were still neat. My scalp was somewhat reddish and swollen. Dr. Longfellow helped and all the adult drinking, clapping and laughter was silenced. The tension in the room was bloodier. Inez said, ’Get ice, Sophia!’ She acted as if she lost her breath, leaving me flat on the floor in the puddle. Barbara Johnson, Minister, Evangelist, Psalmist, Wife and Mother. Barbara affectionately known as Teacher is a well-known Christian Childcare provider of the preschool, The Bookhouse for over 30 years located in Central New Jersey. Many former Bookhouse Kids returned with their very own bundle of joy in search of quality childcare. Teacher has been there with open arms! It is one of her core values that no child would ever be turned away. The children began the Bookhouse as early as 6 weeks old. A gifted teacher acknowledged for her captivating voice, storytelling skills and God given gift to teach children to read fluently at very young ages. Although the children have graduated and moved on into public education, they remained intertwined in the fabric of The Bookhouse while in Elementary Middle school and College.
