Juan Carlos Pocasangre A native of Guatemala, relocated to Brooklyn, New York, in 1988, where he has resided ever since. For many years, he worked two jobs while furthering his education. He earned a Master of Business Administration and a Master in Organizational Management from St. Joseph’s College in NYC, and a Master in Theology and Divinity from the University of the Open Bible in NYC. Although Juan Carlos adopted New York as his new home, his love of Guatemala, his people, and his culture remains steadfast. He has a strong desire to help others grow, thrive, and improve their overall quality of life, and he generously donates his time to various organizations, providing personal and business workshops throughout New York City. Juan Carlos has always had strong family support from his mother-Beatriz, his brother-Olyver, sisters-Lucy and Betzy, and other close relatives in Guatemala especially his grandmother. He values the quality time spent with his beloved niece, Julissa, and nephew, Anthony. Laura Lee Shuler Raised in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, Laura Shuler loves most all things Southern from the accent to the hospitality to the great southern cooking. Laura is the proud mother of a talented and beautiful daughter, Olivia, a recent graduate of the University of Georgia. Laura holds an MBA in International Business from Mercer University in Atlanta, and is employed by the US Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, where she serves as a Senior Advisor and is an advocate for higher education. When Laura’s not working or writing, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, usually around the kitchen table storytelling, eating, laughing and reminiscing.
