"So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep."
John 21:15-17 NKJV
I dreamed of success, a meaningful life, and an influential identity, but my home-life was dysfunctional. As I grew to be an adult I was determined to make a life for myself. I tried many times to do things by the rules (by the laws), but financial hardships led me to a life of crime.
My life of crime led me to the arms of Jesus while behind prison walls. It is only through faith in the son of God, my love for God, and His Word that I’ve been given a chance at a NEW life. This new life is spent intimately connecting with God on a daily basis, through study, meditation and prayer.
As I seek God daily, I receive from Him all I need, and I am able to share it with others. This is what I call God’s way to feed His sheep. I myself am growing in Christ more and more, as commanded, and this is my prayer for all believers (to grow in Christ). It is the very reason this book of devotions exists. And if you give it the chance, this devotional can help you start the journey yourselves. This journey God leads is one of growth and encouragement.
