I was born in Panama in Central America. My first language was Spanish as a child. I emigrated to the United States at the age of 8 with my Dad. My Mom sent for us to join her in the United States. I was the only girl and last child of my parents who had 6 sons born before I came along. Upon arriving to the United States, my family lived in Brooklyn, NY. I started to learn the English language in the 3rd grade. Upon graduating from Erasmus Hall High School, I attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY. My major at that time was English and Theater. It was here that I further developed my skills in poetry. The professor of my major English classes was Mary McElligott, to whom this book is principally dedicated because she saw and belied in my ability to express myself poetically.
