Involved in mining from the beginning, the family ultimatel lived in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Missouri before ending up in Colorado during the Gold Rush of 1859. The story, based on fact, with some imagination included is, as the author says, ＂All fact, except those parts that are made up.
