Bridges of Sand: Book 1

A vintage double-decker red bus holds the Andros Family, coalescing from around the world, to visit the mysterious Manor and extensive Lands of their ever-youthful Matriarch and Patriarch. The Family believes that they are heading for a joyous reunion, unaware that they are headed for a battle between two Ancient and Powerful Gods. Their Family, children included, are to be thrown into a Life and Death Wager as the Gods’ proxies, in a Dreadful War that has swept them up into an Existential Test of Human Character that has raged on for Millennia! Unnatural creatures are amassing for an assault against the Family, which include impetuous sets of boy twins, a precocious little girl with disquieting abilities, and a megalomaniacal great Cat. The Patriarch, whom the Gods simply refer to as the MAN, must find a way, along with his resourceful, extended Family, to survive, in an epic onslaught that travels far beyond their Own Unusual World, and into Alien Realities. Like Job, they must find a way to not only prevail against Forces of Destruction whose goal is the Extinguishment of Hope, but to champion Virtue, Joy and Love! This Wager of the Gods will decide the Continuance of Life’s Existence, versus the Dissolution of Existence Itself! Amid this Eternal Battle, as other Life Forms and Gods take sides, the Family Must Find a Way, whatever the Cost! And that Cost will be dear!
