When Axel’s uncle, Professor Liedenbrock, finds a coded journal describing a path into the center of the Earth, Axel hopes he’ll never be able to decipher it--because once the professor sets his mind to something, he’ll insist on carrying it out no matter the danger or difficulty. Jules Verne (1828-1905) was a prolific French author whose writing about various innovations and technological advancements laid much of the foundation of modern science fiction.
