V. Gillis, Jr. was born December 28th, 1974. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, the poor decisions and choices he made on the streets, resulted in him being sentenced at the age of twenty-three to a 20-year federal prison term. During his incarceration, he discovered a latent talent for writing. At the same time, he found himself disappointed in urban literature that entertained without accurately depicting the sobering reality that awaits young Americans who embrace self-destructive lifestyles.
