My name is Judi Quelland. I was, by profession, a photographer who eventually specialized only in restoring old or damaged photographs. I now am a secretary for a busy real estate agent. I first "met" Eggbert when I was in high school (don’t EVEN ask how long ago that was!) when my mom was giving them as gifts to her friends who were moms to be. Several years ago I stumbled upon a box of Eggbert cocktail napkins and was reminded just how funny those cartoons were ... and still are. I remembered the books but couldn’t find the copy we had. After a brief search on eBay, and more than a few dollars later, I again had a copy of this most delightful book. Now I was hooked again and after a few months I had ALL the Eggbert books. (and I’m even more broke!) Well, I got to thinking that there’s a whole new generation that doesn’t know Eggbert and I thought what fun it would be to see Eggbert on t-shirts, maternity t-shirts, mugs, mousepads or other goodies. I suppose this was because I had a shop on CafePress and was quite busy designing t-shirts, maternity t-shirts, mugs, mousepads and other goodies. However, I couldn’t do anything about it without proper permission. It took quite a while and many hours searching the internet but I finally connected with the daughter of the original publisher (Percy Barker). Since then, Susie Barker Lavensen and I have exchanged many emails, and a few phone calls, kicking around ideas and plans for Eggbert’s future. In thinking about re-publishing the original books, we decided to turn them into diaries with plenty of room for the mom-to-be to write in as she journeys through morning sickness, doctors’ appointments, and all the other changes in her life while pregnant. Now we have new editions of the Eggbert books which are more faithful to the original books without the additional pages for diary entries. (They cost less, too!) We wish all Moms love, joy, and fulfillment, and we provide these delightfully funny books as forever proof that humor is the best medicine in the world. I hope you enjoy these wonderful cartoons as much as I have enjoyed restoring them to bring Eggbert back to life!
