Sunday, August the twenty-seventh, 2028, has been designated as Plebiscite Kickoff Day, the glorious dawn of a new America. On the twenty-seventh, the American people will go to the polls, whether they want to or not, to decide, in an up or down vote, the direction of the nation. A yes vote puts an end to the democratic experiment by cementing the ascension of Dear Leader.
There’ll be parades, fireworks and book burnings. The grandest ceremony will be in Washington, D.C., a million zealots cheering as a million books burn. Government men and women (mostly men, ) will be dispatched around the country to preside over all the local book burnings.
One of the Leader’s most trusted men, the Liquidator, Vic Chesney, is sent to the otherwise insignificant hamlet of Snyderville where his sojourn will present a chilling microcosm of a democratic republic plunging into totalitarian hell.
