Dr. Larry D. Holmes was born in Portland, Oregon to an unwed mother. He spent the first 14 years of his life living with various relatives as well as a stint in the Oregon Juvenile Detention Facility. He dropped out of high school at 15 to register for the draft. After spending a majority of his military time stationed in Munich Germany, he returned home and married Jolene Weber. Three months later, they attended a series of revival meetings in a small church in Jolene’s hometown. It was during these meetings that Jesus Christ came into his life and a new moral compass was installed. After obtaining a GED, he earned an associate’s degree, a Bachelor’s degree (Magna Cum Laude), a Master’s degree and completed his formal education with a Th.D. (Theology). Dr. Holmes was Lead Pastor in Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri churches. For the past 33 years, he has been Lead Pastor at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, in Topeka, Kansas where he and his wife make their home. They have two daughters and five granddaughters.
