Colin S. Morrison is a freelance science writer, philosopher and teacher of mathematics. He graduated in theoretical physics at the University of St Andrews during the 1990s, where he also became a Christian. He went on to study philosophy, theology and ancient history whilst teaching mathematics and raising a family. His 2016 popular science book on the mind-body problem, The Blind Mindmaker: Explaining Consciousness without Magic or Misrepresentation, received a glowing five-page endorsement in the Journal of Consciousness Studies from its book reviews editor professor Jonathan C. W. Edwards of University College London. Edwards describes it as ’an intriguing and ambitious attempt to produce an account of consciousness in rigorous scientific terms that also incorporates an account of concepts of value’, and he comments that it is ’very refreshing’ and ’sticks to a scientific agenda in a way that a lot of scientists would do well to emulate’.
