While in some parts of the region they were decimated within a generation, others, such as the Kalinago of Dominica and the Lesser Antilles, resisted the onslaught. This book sheds new light on the Kalinago relationship in the wake of contact and exchange. In remarkable detail, it shows how they have shifted identities from the early years of resistance, through tactical retreat to eventual revival of Kalinago tradition into the 21st century.
