A majority of American States have the death penalty, but very few use it regularly. Of of the date of this publishing this book the death penalty is authorized in 27 states and prohibited in 23. Even in those that authorize it the penalty is very rarely used. 13 of these have not used it in the last 12 years.
So what drives a person to kill? I have tried to keep the book focused on those killer with unusual or interesting backgrounds that could influence the act of murder so not every Alabama killer is listed.
