The earth beneath their feet felt eggshell thin, and it was cracking open...
John Bowman has a problem. Several, in fact.
His isolated town of Dyall’s Ford reels from ecological disasters and supernatural phenomena that culminate in Flashings: blinding atmospheric flares affecting the memory of those they strike. And even those unaffected can’t agree what year it is.
Then there’s the random cracks opening and closing in the earth’s crust, snatching away townsfolk while spewing airborne, fire-breathing creatures to terrorise those who remain.
To cap it off, a group of vigilantes calling itself The Voice has imposed a lethal chokehold on the defenceless community.
When rebel Jessie Saker finds John wandering dazed after a Flashing incident, she takes him to her hideaway beyond town. But the Voice already has them in its sights and pounces; they narrowly escape with the vigilantes in hot pursuit.
Now, the pair must flee through a landscape where time and matter no longer make sense, frantically mustering others for the fight to save their besieged world.
