The principal's careful planning and ambition has powered a small prairie Christian school to become a bastion of 'true Scriptural science'. But Peter, the school's talented and popular science teacher, struggles with the school's belief about the age of the earth. When the principle's son challenges him in class about his beliefs, Peter is compelled to come clean. Shock waves will hurtle through his Grade Eleven class and much beyond. To deepen the crisis, Peter's bright 16-year-old daughter, Iris, discloses her Darwinian beliefs right in class. Peter anticipates his school, his community and even his own family being torn apart by community fear and hatred. When a resourceful and gifted new librarian comes to head the town library, Iris seeks her out to find answers not found in the school library. Peter also needs answers as he feels his faith crumbling. He is drawn to this kind and attractive woman - for more reasons than the helpful authors she is finding for him. However, she is Catholic. As powerful 'Scriptural science' and anti-Catholic forces build in the community, will Peter and his family be crushed spiritually and forced to leave? Even worse, will the community be swallowed up in hate? Will Peter find love again after the tragic death of his wife?
