Krishan K. Verma, PhD, is working as a Foreign Expert at the Sugarcane Research Institute at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanning, Guangxi, China. He has 13 years of research experience in the field of biotic and abiotic stresses, i.e., environmental toxicology, plant physiology, and metallic nanoparticles. His research focuses on environmental toxicology, bioengineering modeling, plant physiology and molecular biology and their impacts on growth, and physiological and molecular adaptation strategies of plants to stressful environment and how they affect the plant structure. He has published more than 95 scientific research articles/reviews, 10 books, and 12 book chapters. He is an internationally recognized reviewer. He has been serving as an editorial board member of various peer-reviewed journals.
Xiu-Peng Song, PhD, is working as Associate Professor at the Sugarcane Research Institute, Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences/Sugarcane Research Center, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences/ Guangxi Key Laboratory of Sugarcane Genetic Improvement/Key Laboratory of Sugarcane Biotechnology and Genetic Improvement (Guangxi) of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Nanning, Guangxi, China. His ongoing research focuses on plant physiology and biochemistry of stress resistance, occurrence mechanisms, and comprehensive control of diseases and insect pests in sugarcane. He has presided over four projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation, China, and participated in 16 projects that involved national and international cooperation. He has won six awards, such as a Guangxi Science and Technology Progress Award. He has published over 65 scientific publications, three book chapters, and one book (Springer). He received his master’s and PhD degrees (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) from Guangxi University, Guangxi, China.
Munna Singh, PhD, served as Vice-Chancellor at Chandra Shekher Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, India (2013-2016). He is currently working as Professor and Head, Botany, and also as Chairman of the Board of Studies, Agriculture, at the University of Lucknow, India, after serving at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, for nearly two decades, as well as Professor and Head, Plant Physiology. He is a Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. The Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, awarded him with a Better Opportunities for Young Scientists in Chosen Areas of Science and Technology (BOYSCAST) Fellowship to pursue postdoctoral research at the University of California, USA (1998). He was also conferred with other various prestigious awards, including a Jawahar Lal Nehru National Award of ICAR for outstanding research in agricultural sciences (1991), Honorary Fellow of the Indian Society of Biochemist (2013), Saraswati Sammaan (2014) for outstanding contribution in education, etc. He has completed nearly a dozen research projects and published over 100 research papers in national and international journals of high repute. He has published seven books based on the doctoral research work of his students. He has guided over 50 PhD and postgraduate students. He completed his MSc in Botany (1985) and his doctoral research on ""Photosynthetic characteristics of Populus deltoides under light and temperature stress including chloroplast genome (cpDNA) isolation and characterization"" at the University of Lucknow.
Renato de Mello Prado, PhD, is currently working as a Professor of Plant Nutrition at São Paulo State University, São Paulo, Brazil. He also coordinates a research group (Genplant) focused on the nutrition of tropical plants. He has published over 400 articles in peer-review journals and has authored/co-authored about 20 academic books. He holds a PhD in Agronomy from the São Paulo State University, Brazil, and completed his postdoctoral program at the University of Cordoba and the Public University of Navarra, Spain.
Jian-Ming Wu, PhD, is working as a Professor at the Sugarcane Research Institute, Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Science/Sugarcane Research Center, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences/Guangxi Key Laboratory of Sugarcane Genetic Improvement/Key Laboratory of Sugarcane Biotechnology and Genetic Improvement (Guangxi) of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Nanning, Guangxi, China. His ongoing research focuses on comprehensive control of physiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology in sugarcane crop. He has presided over 10 projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and participated in 20 projects, such as a national international cooperation project, and won four awards, such as a Guangxi Science and Technology Progress Award. He has published more than 120 scientific publications with five granted invention patents. He received his master’s and doctoral degrees in Agronomy from Guangxi University, Guangxi, China.
Yang-Rui Li, PhD, is a life-time Professor and has been serving as Director of the Sugarcane Research Center, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, since September 2007. He is Chief-Expert of the National Joint Research Program for Elite Sugarcane Variety Development in China (since 2018). He worked in various capacities, including as Professor in the Department of Agronomy, Guangxi Agricultural University; Vice-President of Guangxi University; President of the Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, etc. He is President of the International Association for Professionals of Sugar and Integrated Technologies (IAPSIT); Vice-President of the Society for Sugar Research and Promotion (SSRP); and President of the Chinese Sugarcane Industry Association for Technological Innovation (CSIATI). His research interests include sugarcane physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, sugarcane genetics, breeding and cultivation, and chemical regulation of growth and development of sugarcane. He has published 16 books and more than 1000 papers and received 23 scientific research achievement awards from the Chinese government to date as well as 14 awards from international organizations, including a Lifetime Achievement Award--Society for Sugar Research and Promotion (2011), Lifetime Achievement Award--International Association of Professionals in Sugar and Integrated Technologies (2014), and Leadership Excellence Award from Thailand Society of Sugarcane and Sugar Technologists (2018). He earned his BA degree at the Department of Agronomy, Guangxi Agricultural University, China, and MSc and PhD degrees from the Department of Agronomy, Fujian Agricultural University, China, respectively.
