Dynamics of Heritage Management and Tourism Development: Trends, Practices, and Approaches

This book explores and elaborates on the concept of ＂heritage tourism＂ and its implications for the tourism industry worldwide. The book is unique in that it offers a thorough assessment of the literature on heritage management in order to highlight the significance of conserving and promoting tangible and intangible cultural assets for sustainable tourism development. It provides direction for destinations experiencing problems with heritage management and for developing new tourism destinations. The chapters focus on what has been learned from previous generations, both material and immaterial, and what constitutes a cultural heritage.

Surabhi Srivastava, PhD, is a scrupulous and analytical researcher with 18 years of teaching experience in heritage tourism marketing and management. She is an Associate Professor at the Om Kothari Institute of Research and Management, Kota, Rajasthan, India. She has organized workshops, seminars, and presentations, educating students, peers, and superiors on exploring new trends in tourism development. She has contributed as the author of four books (national publications) and editor of two books (international publications) on heritage tourism, dedicated toward research findings, gaps, and limitations of heritage tourism academia. She has been awarded first prizes for her research and also received the Global Women Inspiration Award (2022) for exploring tribal tourism, nature tourism, and agri-tourism for community development. She holds an MBA (tourism) and a PhD (Tourism) from the University of Lucknow, India, and a PDF (Tourism) from the University of Kota (UGC-sponsored), India.

Ruchika Kulshrestha, PhD, is working as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Business Management at GLA University Mathura, India. Her research interest pertains to heritage tourism, destination management, tourism marketing, and tourist behavior. She has published her research work in reputed international Scopus-indexed journals and also presented papers at various international conferences. Her articles are published in the Economic Times, Travel Daily News, and other magazines. She had the opportunity to be a session chair at IIM Kashipur and DSMS Durgapur, among others. She has received various awards for her contribution to tourism education. She is actively involved in faculty development programs. She was awarded her PhD (Tourism) from Jiwaji University and MBA (Tourism) from IIPS Indore, India. She is UGC NET (Tourism Management) qualified.
