If we open our eyes and awaken from our dream long enough, we find that the path that leads to our true home is everywhere, in all manifestations of daily existence, and in every imaginable lifestyle. It is there in our vocations, in our avocations, and especially in our relationships. Parenting is not often spoken of in terms of a mystical path, yet I believe that it is. The love of a parent for a child can bring both ecstatic joy and excruciating suffering. Yet beneath the veil of both extremes dwells a much larger mystery, one that can liberate us if we allow it to. The Falcon Drum is a parable for all of us who are on the sacred path of learning to love without attachment.
