Coco Chanel: The Graphic Novel

The story of the legendary woman behind the famous couture brand - the groundbreaking fashion, perfumes, handbags, perfumes - is unveiled through a contemporary retelling in graphic novel form.

From abandonment and poverty to influential friends and wealth, this independent, driven and fiercely determined woman created a whole new style and way of dressing, and changed fashion forever.

The book tracks her early career as she advanced from a seamstress to an entrepreneur, borrowing from male fashions to combine comfort and elegance in clothing for women, with such groundbreaking innovations as the ’little black dress’ and Chanel No.5 perfume.

Depicting the stories of cultural legends, told in the bold, contemporary and captivating format of the graphic novel, the series includes the lives of Alexander McQueen, Coco Chanel, Taylor Swift and David Bowie.

Screenwriter and graphic novelist Carola Di Giovanni attained her Master’s degree in Italian Studies and Linguistic Sciences with a focus on philology and the treatment of ancient and modern documents.She lives in Bologna, Italy.

Federica De Fazio attended the Academy of Fine Arts and Art Graphics in Rome, which brought her closer to the world of engraving and editorial graphics. During her time at the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata for her master’s course, she worked with the publishing house Editions Notari on the book project Les Deux Voyages by Octave Mirbeau.
