The chicks couldn’t play outside, so they sang out, "Rain rain go away, come again another day!" It rained so hard that Oil, the dog, and his house were carried down stream to a cliff. Then the rain stopped, and the chicks imagined how things would be if it didn’t rain again. The green grass and trees would turn brown, the flowers would wither, the butterflies wouldn’t come, and the bugs would be sad. The fruit would go bad, and they couldn’t make apple pie, lemonade, or grape jelly any longer. That night the rain come back along with wind, thunder, and lightning! When morning came, it brought a beautiful rainbow to start the day.
