For more than two decades, he had taught qualitative research methodology in general, and ethnographic research in particular, for MPhil and PhD students. He is the author and editor of more than 30 books written in Chinese on collective memory, cultural identity and social changes. Awakening to Coincidences is his first book written in English for the general readers.
