Like England, Europe has many medieval castles. France has an abundance of them. There are the abbeys, like Lagrasse, with its medieval village on one side of the river, the abbey on the other; the Cathar castles, so called for being the safe havens against the Catholic oppressors who drove them out, throwing them from the castle walls or burning them in the courtyard with the cry. Let their gods save them. And Carcassonne, another Cathar stronghold. Rebuilt during the last century for the enjoyment of all who visit it. I hope my book gives you a taste of what Europe, particularly France, has to offer the fellow campers.
