As Jacob searches, he finds an old wooden trunk hidden under blankets. The trunk looks incredibly old, with scratches from many years. Inside, something is wrapped in faded cloth and tied tightly with a leather string. The knot is strong, like someone wanted to keep it closed until the right time. Jacob hesitates, but curiosity wins. He slowly unties the string and opens the cloth.

The diary is thick and worn. The cover is cracked at the corners, and the pages are yellow like dried leaves. The ink is still dark, and the handwriting is neat but rushed, as if the writer had little time. On the first page, Jacob sees a name written clearly: Elias Vane. Below it is a sentence that shocks him: ＂If you are reading this, the jungle hasn’t forgotten about me.＂ Jacob suddenly feels nervous because the attic is so silent, almost like the house is listening.

He brings the diary downstairs. Later that afternoon, Jacob shows it to his best friend Lina, who is brave and loves adventure. Lina reads the first lines and looks up with wide eyes. She whispers that the diary is real and belongs to an explorer.
Jacob remembers that his grandfather once talked about a missing explorer who disappeared long ago. People searched for him, but they never found him.

Lina smiles, excited and fearless. She tells Jacob they should finish the explorer’s story. To Lina, it feels like a treasure hunt and a summer adventure. Jacob agrees, even though he feels unsure. They don’t know the forest has changed, that the diary is not complete, or that someone else may already be following them. And that is how their mysterious journey begins.
