The main part of the book is a journal that covers six years of nature sightings among the fields, woods, gardens, lanes and shoreline of the Essex/Suffolk border. Birds and flowers, both familiar and rare, are a focus. Insects and animals also feature, as do the beautiful landscapes and skyscapes of the area. There are colour photographs on nearly every page.
