Denos, a retired public school teacher, has joined with Toohey, Neilson and Waterstone (education, Simon Fraser U.) to write this volume on the improvements that can be made to classroom environments that will benefit students of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Aimed primarily at educators and researchers, this book presents case studies based upon the authors' experiences in exploring sociocultural identities, community practices and decision-making protocols that result in a more productive learning experiences. The authors also report on TARG research activities and how this type of action research has delivered practical and relevant knowledge in the social sciences.
