The Potters of Halberton

Edmund and Lilian Potter live in the Devonshire village of Halberton. In August 1914 Edmund is among the first eager volunteers to enlist, to Lilian’s dismay. Their marriage is tested to the limit as the war progresses and Edmund suffers neurasthenia and later disabling wounds at the Somme.
