This work of fiction takes us through the life journey of a warlock, from Novitiate to Adept, and eventually to Magister Legatus.
First enrolled as a Novitiate from being a shelf-stacker in a minimarket, our protagonist enters the strange and unexpected world of the Dark Arts. This is a life he had not envisaged, nor was it how he thought such a life would be. No wands, no cauldrons, no pointy hats.
Located in Maidstone in Kent in the 60s and 70s and through to the early 2000s, as the town changes over the years, so does he. The town becomes unrecognisable from his youth as he progresses in his chosen profession - or is it a calling rather than a choice?
Sacrificing family, friends and the ’normal life’, he turns his back on the usual course of life to master his profession - misunderstood, prejudged and covert.
If you are expecting anything akin to Merlin, Harry Potter or the Wizard of Oz you will be sorely disappointed. This is a story of one person’s life. Be prepared to be enchanted and enthralled, and ready for the unexpected.
