But did you know that her very existence was down to the incredible determination and obsession of one man? And this man, Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi was not even an American! Award-winning author Julian Voloj specializes in non-fiction graphic novels and literary adaptations. He lives with his wife Lisa and sons Leon and Simon in New York City’s borough of Queens, not far from Joe Shuster’s 1970s residence.
