The idea of developing a pictorial library of native and non-native perennials for Prince Edward Island originated over twenty years ago while the author was traveling through South Carolina. Following a visit to an arboretum with educational resources on-site, the author was inspired to develop such an arboretum on Prince Edward Island, in doing so, the author established winter hardiness trials with plant species hybrid and cultivars from worldwide sources and provides tours and educational sessions to the disabled and other interested groups outlining plant identification features, cultural information, impactful native and invasive pests, height, form, timing of flowering. The library will also outline common methods of propagation, invasive plant potential of the plant in question in "Prince Edward Island"’s climatic and environmental conditions."
