Parklands, an old block of units hidden away in the southeast precinct of Adelaide, South Australia, functions like a social hamlet. Owner-occupiers and renters, old and young, live in small units. Family members, inamoratas, friends, and visitors-all with tales to tell of the tracks they have left as they meandered through life. Events, happenings, passions, and sadness have left their marks on the characters in this little bohemian complex.
It is here that Lea and Toby from the country retire to the Adelaide CBD (Central Business District) to be close to medical and associated services. No longer is their journey the hero’s quest into the unknown; they have already done that extensively. They are experienced enough to offer guidance but only to those who seek their advice. Older residents are not wearied, but as Toby says, "We are kept alive these days by the medical professions and pills and potions."
All are available within walking distance in the southeast precinct.
