Jack Mears is down on his luck. A career criminal, wanted by the police in four countries, he’s used to being in tight spots, but this time his prospects appear truly bleak. Stuck in a French town, waiting for a pay-off that looks ever less likely to get made, and with the cops closing in and the Russian underworld out for his blood, he’ll do anything for a way out.
So when a stranger in a bar offers him an absurdly large sum of money to drive him to the Spanish border, it all seems too good to be true, but Jack is desperate enough to take the man up on his offer. But over the course of their journey, as night falls upon the mountain roads taking them to their destination, Jack’s strange travelling companion starts to reveal more of his unique character, and why it is that he seems to know so much about Jack, and Jack realises just what a terrifying ordeal he’s let himself in for, and the true price that must be paid for his once in a lifetime opportunity.
